Ham-Blogs.net - Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you doing this?
We think there exist a huge amount of ham radio related weblogs out in the internet. A lot - if not most of them - are drowned in the search engine. Do the test yourself. Search on Google (or your favourite search engine) for ham radio blog or amateurfunk blog and count the results. Roughly 3 million hits but the amount of usable information is little. This webdirectory is an effort to change this and in the long run provide the interested reader blogs only related to ham radio.

Why do you have so few entries in your catalog?
This catalog started on January 20th 2006 and I need your help to fill it.

What type of sites can I add to the webdirectory?
We are only listing blogs dealing with ham radio / amateur radio! No matter what flavor (QRP, QRO, DX, Contest etc.) but they have to deal with ham radio!

I don't find a suitable category for my site!
No problem. Just add your site to another category and we will reclassify it later. Right now it does not make sense to add a category for each possible DXCC entity therefore it is likely that some categories are missing.

I have a question which is not covered in this FAQ!
No problem! Just send an email to info@ham-blogs.net and we will try to answer your question as fast as possible.

Where can I send suggestion or complaints?
Send an email to info@ham-blogs.net.

Do I have to set a backlink?
No! Backlinks (a.k.a reciprocal links) are not mandatory but will be appreciated. Every link helps this directory and in the long run your site.

Does this catalog entail PageRank?
Yes! All links in this catalog are real links (no jumpscripts or similar). Additionally the links do not contain the rel="nofollow" tag. The only links you encounter with rel="nofollow" are navigation links and the rel="nofollow" has been added to prevent duplicate content.

Why do I have to enter my email address?
You will receive news about changes regarding your entry. No email addresses will be sold, nor do we spam. No email address will be publicly visible so that your email address is protected. Additionally some measures have been taken to prevent link-spam or exploitation of this directory trough spambots (e.g. bot-trap).

How much does submitting an entry cost?
Nothing! Nada! Zilch! Submitting and admission to this catalog is completely free. On the other hand there exists no right that your entry will be added.

How can I delete my entry?
Just send us an email to info@ham-blogs.net and your request will be processed.

How long does it usually take until my link gets approved?
Usually it should not take longer than a few hours, rarely it can take a few days until links are approved. In this case you will receive an email.

Where did you put DXCC "X" into continent "Y"?
I am using the IOTA nomenclatura to assign the countries to the continents.

Why do you have category "Miscellaneous" ? You mentioned that you only list ham radio blogs!
That is correct, but from time to time I will add links to this category. I think each website should have a bit of diversity, but this does not mean that you can submit any type of website to the webdirectory to get it listed in "Miscellaneous" :-).

Why do you write "we" instead of "I"?
hmm... No idea :-).
